The Concrete-Designed Harrison Urby Hosts Grand Opening As Hudson County Continues to Evolve

The Concrete-Designed Harrison Urby Hosts Grand Opening As Hudson County Continues to Evolve

September 20, 2017

Harrison Urby, a 409-unit rental complex that combines bold modern architecture and landscape design with a robust events calendar, celebrated its grand opening today (September 19, 2017) with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Harrison Urby was developed by Ironstate Development in partnership with Pegasus Group and is the third Urby development to be completed in the New York City metropolitan area following Staten Island Urby and Jersey City Urby. An Urby in Stamford, CT is currently under construction as well. The 4-story complex is designed inside and out by the Amsterdam-based design firm Concrete. Urby represents a complete re-think of rental apartments that is design driven with collective spaces that are thoughtfully programmed to connect residents with one another.

“We are thrilled to open a third Urby location in one of Hudson County’s fastest growing areas,” said David Barry, CEO of Urby and President of Ironstate Development, which is developing over 2,200 residential units, an Element by Westin hotel and 80,000 square feet of shops and restaurant space in Harrison. “Harrison Urby illustrates the Urby brand’s commitment to creating efficient apartments located near mass transit.”

“I'm delighted to be here today celebrating the opening of another exceptional residential building from Ironstate Development Company and The Pegasus Group,” said Mayor Fife. “They are visionary developers who have helped re-energize our town and made us part of the thriving New Jersey Gold Coast. We're fortunate to have such experienced and committed partners helping us shape the future of the Town of Harrison.”

Harrison Urby is comprised of a 4-story building set around landscaped green spaces. The building offers residences that make smart use of space, available in studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom layouts. Each rental apartment features large windows to maximize natural light, built-in closets with drawers for storage, a full washer/dryer, sustainable bamboo flooring and dimmable LED lights. Prices range from $1,800 for a studio to $3,200 for a 2-bedroom apartment.

Amenities at Harrison Urby include the two-story Coperaco Café, located in the lobby, a 30-foot tree house library and a Steinway baby grand piano for performances. The nearby Urby Blues is an onsite recording studio that serves as a practice space for Urby’s jazz musician-in-residence, Davell Crawford. Amenities also include a courtyard with heated saltwater swimming pool and patio, fire pits, great lawn, 2 story fitness center with cardio and weight equipment, a yoga room and regularly scheduled fitness classes, as well as the Urby Kitchen, a communal chef’s kitchen that is used to host culinary classes, wine tastings and events from local business owners, including pop-up dinners, a salon series and workshops for residents. Harrison Urby is located at 777 South Third Street in Harrison, N.J. The first Urby opened in 2016 on Staten Island’s North Shore, followed by a second location in downtown Jersey City in early 2017. Photos by Ryan Koopmans.
