Construction is fully underway on Brooklyn's first supertall, 9 DeKalb, from JDS Develoment and Chetrit Group; located at 340 Flatbush Avenue. The tower was designed by SHoP Architects, will rise 1,066' from a base which will integrate the landmarked Dime Savings Bank. The Landmarks Preservation Commission gave approval to JDS Development to proceed with the project in April and caisson work was reportedly underway in June after JDS Development and Cetrit Group secured a $135 million bridge loan in February (2017). 9 DeKalb will feature 500 rental apartments with panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline, East River and Long Island. Completion is expected in 2020.
