Check Out MoMA PS1's Newly Revealed "Hide & Seek" Interactive Mirror Exhibit By Dream The Combine

Check Out MoMA PS1's Newly Revealed "Hide & Seek" Interactive Mirror Exhibit By Dream The Combine

July 1, 2018

MoMA PS1 has revealed their newest temporary exhibit, Hide & Seek, by Jennifer Newsom and Tom Carruthers of Dream The Combine. The interactive art exhibit features moveable mirrors spread throughout a courtyard that distort perspectives as guests move throughout the space. Visitors can move the mirrors themselves or the wind can naturally push them, creating a unique experience that will never the same. The installation also features a large hammock. Newsome and Carruthers won the 2018 Young Architects Program with Hide & Seek, as 50 young architects nominated by previous winners were challenged to design a sustainable outdoor installation with a design that included shade, seating, mater and addressed environmental issues.

“As art can and should move through walls, so too does Jennifer Newsom and Tom Carruthers’s restaging of how and why communities interact with the museum,” said Sean Anderson, Associate Curator for MoMA Architecture & Design Department.

Hide & Seek will be on display at MoMA's PS1 in Long Island City between June 28 to September 3, 2018.
