A First Look Into Art Partnership Between The Waldorf Astoria New York And Simon De Pury

A First Look Into Art Partnership Between The Waldorf Astoria New York And Simon De Pury

November 17, 2020

The Waldorf Astoria New York has recently announced an art partnership with renowned curator and auctioneer Simon de Pury. Images reveal a first look at the art chosen for residents located in the historic Towers. Condos in The Waldorf Astoria are for sale for the first time ever allowing residents to be a part of New York History.

Simon de Pury is internationally recognized as a leader in the art world. He has many successes in his career such as chairman of Sotheby’s Europe and chairman and chief auctioneer of Phillips auction house. Simon de Pury’s art collection will pay homage to the Waldorf Astoria’s history with a focus on dynamic and emerging artists from around the world. Residents will be able to enjoy the custom pieces in private residential amenity spaces and communal areas, owned by the condominium association. Artists with work featured will include An Te Liu, Benjamin Plé, Minjung Kim, Philippe Decrauzat, Rowan Mersh, James Ryan, and Matthew Pillsbury. “We chose artists from all over the world, whose spirit we believe in,” said Simon de Pury. “These artists will help to breathe new life into this historic place.”

The Waldorf Astoria New York will offer 375 residents with occupancy slated for 2022. The new contemporary art collection will add charm to the building’s original Art Deco design, elevating the Waldorf Astoria into a new chapter in its history.
