COOKFOX Architects-Designed 1 South First Revealed In Domino Megaproject In Williamsburg, Brooklyn

October 20, 2018

The COOKFOX Architects-designed 1 South First has been revealed at 260 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, part of the Domino megaproject. The tower is being developed by Two Trees and is the second of four planned residential projects in the megaproject that is redeveloping the former Domino Sugar Refinery. The complex was built in 1882 and was the original refinery of the American Sugar Refining Company, which produced Domino brand sugar and was once the largest sugar refinery in the world. 1 South First will be 42 stories when complete and will offer 330 rentals, 66 of which will be affordable, 150,000 SF of office space, and 15,000 SF of retail. The building will be home to a Roberta’s Pizza. COOKFOX Architects designed the building with a design derived from sugar crystals.

The total Domino megaproject will feature the repurposing of the refinery building into 380,000 SF of office space, 4 residential buildings with 2,800 apartments of which 700 are affordable, 600,000 SF of commercial space and 200,000 SF of retail.
